Energy Management Solution

Energy Management Solution

Throughout the life of this project, our team of data analysts, systems and database architects as well as software developers support and maintain the Navy Shore Geospatial Energy Module (NSGEM) for the US Navy. NSGEM is an enterprise web-based mapping solution. NSGEM has been developed to assist the Navy in monitoring energy consumption to ensure that installations can meet the Navy Energy Reduction Goals. The system provides Navy leadership with visibility on energy consumption at the Facility, Installation, Region, and Enterprise worldwide perspectives. NSGEM provides this insight by utilizing a variety of existing Navy systems, such as real property and asset management, and gives Installation personnel the tools needed to identify the highest energy consumers. Additionally, renewable energy resource geospatial data are being integrated into the application in order to enable energy project managers in planning renewable energy projects across the Navy Enterprise. Data validation is addressed through regularly updated data presented to the field through an Energy Dashboard and automated reports available for each Navy Installation. Energy use intensity (EUI) is tracked from the Region level down to the individual Facilities. EUI is measured against industry standard benchmarks based on climate and usage type. The many components are aggregated to present a more holistic picture for Energy Plan Development.

In summary, the Navy Shore Geospatial Energy Module (NSGEM) geospatially-enables the CNIC Energy Program with standardized tools and reports to track and measure progress towards reduction goals, pinpoint specific areas for improvements, view new and alternative energy sources geospatially within the map interface, and increase overall energy consumption awareness. NSGEM provides the CNIC Energy Program with a comprehensive solution for viewing and using energy consumption data. Additionally, NSGEM provides a snapshot of data discrepancies through GIS that may prevent an Installation from reaching its energy consumption reduction goals.
