In the first week of December a few GISinc geeks attended the 2016 Cityworks Conference in Salt Lake City, UT.  This event, held every 18 months, is a great place to network and discover all things Cityworks for both users and business partners alike.

One of the main conference themes this year, was Cityworks’ push for greater incorporation of the ESRI platform; we find the part revolving around web GIS the most exciting.  There’s a ton of enhancements coming to Cityworks that will enable users to combine the benefits from their Cityworks investment with the investment in their ESRI mapping technology.  Items such as identity management will allow Single Sign On for Portal, ArcGIS Online, and Cityworks, allowing for a more efficient use of Cityworks-integrated GIS applications.  Cityworks will be introducing web hooks to enable Cityworks data and information to flow into and out of ArcGIS field apps such as Collector and Workforce.  This will also allow the same Cityworks information to be leveraged within ESRI’s Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS application, enabling decision makers to access real-time data with ease.

Cityworks will also be introducing Ag Assistant, a tool within Cityworks which will enable users to manage their Cityworks eURL services and ArcGIS Online web maps simultaneously.  Similar to the way they would manage web maps using ArcGIS Online Assistant – the technology on which the Ag Assistant is based.

On the analysis side, Cityworks Insights will integrate with Insights for ArcGIS allowing users to get a deeper understanding of their asset and GIS data through a series of related maps, charts and graphs.

In the coming months, GISinc will be hosting an asset management webinar in conjunction with ESRI and Cityworks, where we will cover topics related to how asset management and GIS technologies can work together to form a seamless enterprise solution.  So, stay tuned for more information.
